... the company was founded by Hermann Reitz. He concentrated at first on the extraction of rough diabase, which was found in the ‘Grey Stones’ quarries in the Asslar district. Thanks to his fine technical knowledge and tireless hard work, Reitz succeeded in 1952 in setting up a stonemasonry company. The company’s primary focus was on making gravestones out of diabase.
His son Friedel learnt the trade from the bottom up, thus contributing a sound knowledge of the work when he joined the company in 1959. The firm subsequently became a general partnership and was registered in the register of companies at Wetzlar district court on 18th February of the same year.
The business has since been constantly expanded and modernised.
In 1974, the company’s founder died and management of the business was taken over by his son Friedel.
Having finished his training, the founder’s grandson, Egbert Reitz, joined the company in 1982.
Following the sudden death of Friedel Reitz in 1984, Carla Reitz took over general management and her son Egbert management of the engineering operation.
A purely engineering branch was set up in 1987, dealing with the production of machine parts made of granite.
With its motto ‘Precision from the very start’, Egbert Reitz Natursteintechnik (Egbert Reitz Natural Stone Engineering) is now happily continuing its non-stop expansion.
